Power and Lighting - what to pack for camping

Righto - if you are always going to be stopping in powered sites, there's not much point packing too much in the way of electrical generation equipment.  Maybe just an extension cord, power board and some LEDs.  However, it is pretty important that what you have is sufficient for what you are embarking on.  You do want your power to work - there would be nothing worse than your fridge carking it in the middle of nowhere with 3 days left of lamb chops and the temperature nudging 40 degrees.

The list below covers what we took on our four week trip through the top end of the NT, Red Centre and Simpson Desert.  We aren't running a lot of electrical equipment compared to others (eg water pumps etc), so our battery capacity might look a bit skinny compared to some. It works for us though!

All up, your electrical gear (for a self sufficient camp) will likely come in around 50kg for a set up like ours.
