Fuel, Oil and Spares - what to pack for remote camping
Struth, chuck an extra spare wheel on board and another 80L of fuel and see how you go with weight! But just like with tools and recovery gear, you'd rather be looking at it than for it when if something breaks on a remote camping trip.

Our total weight of fuel, oil and spares (given we were carrying 4 Jerry Cans of Fuel) on our trip from Dalhousie to Birdsville across the Simpson Desert came in at between 115 and 120kg at its peak. It will be nothing like that kind of load on a quick weekend camping trip to the coast!

The below includes everything we packed for our trip through the Top End, Red Centre and Simpson Desert.
